First week labs?

Just curious but do labs meet on the first week of classes for the full period? I have my 3 hour bio lab on Wednesday which is a day after classes begin so im wondering if it would meet for an actual lab that day. Would we be expected to have all our lab materials that day?

Bio labs will meet for the first time during the week of September 10th, so that first Wednesday of class your lab will not meet.

All lab materials are provided to you, for chem lab you pay an amount for the course and they say they give you the money back but they never do.

Bio lab is free and gives you what you need.

However, if you break something you are going to have to pay for it

I have heard from many people that they hold you for the whole time in bio lab regardless of when you finish. They dont do that in chem or physics just in case anyone is wondering.

^ this is true, but some TA’s might let you out 10-15 mins early if they finish in time, but its the bio TA’s decision.

Bio TA’s aren’t allowed to let their students out early; they get scolded if they do. Anyway, if the syllabus isn’t out yet, how do you know there is no meeting in the first week of school? Last year was different because of Irene. I mean, is that always the case for bio?

It says it on the Online Schedule of Classes under General Biology.

“GENERAL BIOLOGY LABS BEGIN THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 10TH. ALL STUDENTS MUST ATTEND THE FIRST MEETING OF THEIR LECTURE SECTION (SEPTEMBER 4TH OR 5TH DEPENDING ON THE SECTION). STUDENTS MAY REGISTER FOR OPEN SECTIONS ONLY. NO SPECIAL PERMISSION NUMBERS ARE GIVEN FOR CLOSED COURSES.”
