First Year at a CC, want to transfer, no clue of what to do...help!

First time using college conf, sry if I’m kinda rusty at it… some back story below:

So I just graduated high school, applied to UCs, USC, etc, got declined by all, so I’m deciding to put my mind towards actually working hard before I lose another chance, going to citrus college in Azusa California for the fall semister, I want to major in political science, don’t know what sort of classes I need to take for general ed, major stuff, etc to transfer, looked into the IGETC, Trojan Transfer Plan, etc, any suggestions on what sort of english, math, and other course I need to take in order to transfer to USC, UCLA, UCSB, etc? how much my GPA should be and should I take Honors courses? Thanks

  1. Contact the transfer advisor at Citrus once you begin school in the Fall
  2. Use assist.org to help with your classes. You select the name of the CC and then the name of the school you plan to transfer. It will list all the classes at Citrus that are transferable to your school of choice.
  3. The higher the GPA, the better. If you can handle Honors courses, then take some. You do have to apply to the Honors program to be eligible to take these classes: http://www.citruscollege.edu/academics/honors/Pages/Eligibility.aspx
  4. I suggest you post in the specific forum for UC transfers, since their a far more knowledgeable posters that could help you with more specific questions.
  5. Google is your friend, so look up IGETC and Trojan transfer plan. I am sure that is alot of information if you search the internet.

Good Luck.

All this information can be found on assist.org. or using USC’s transfer website. Just spend time exploring the sites.

You’ll need to maintain a 3.7 or better to be viable for UCLA. UCSB uses TAG so, a 3.3 or 3.4 will probably do there.

Also, make an appointment with an admissions person at a couple of UCs, As a perspective student, they will help map your courses and help you understand what if takes to get in.

Good luck.
