First year chemE, best way of finding internship this summer?

Hey guys,

I know i'm very late, but i'd like to try and intern somewhere this summer.

I'm at CC so only have a few credits to my name so far (avg over 100% in my classes), with not too much real world experience to add...I managed a family hardware store 10 years ago, but really not much else.

Is there any chance of me finding an unpaid (or paid obv) internship that will look good on my resume and would be beneficial to my degree?

What are the best avenues of seeking out these internships? When I spoke to my chemistry professor he said i'd struggle to find places that took on freshman. Surely theres something productive I can do this summer right?

btw i'm in Tulsa, OK if that affects your answer

Thanks in advance for any replies

Look on Craigslist under engineering and architectural. I know that sds weird but since summer is already here, you now have to scramble. Don’t limit your interest to chemical engineering (any type of engineering experience for ex. process eng.) would be ok for a Frosh and would look good on your resume. reach out to employers and tell them your situation. you can also Google internships in Wichita engineering and see if there is anything out there. Finally, get your resume and cover letter ready for fall 2012 so you won’t be last minute Manny next summer! Good luck!
