What are computer engineering/computer science classes like? What is the homework like? The basics of what is covered? Are there things that would be helpful to know prior to taking the classes that would help?

Hi there.
You don’t need to have programming or engineering experience prior to your first encounter in college.

What I would recommend you to do, however, is to do light programming during your summer. What language you choose is up to you.
You can check your college’s CS department and see what language is being taught at your first computer science (programming) course. It could be C, C++, Java, Python.

Technically curriculum are similar (the sequences of classes vary, however).

Computer Science

Computer engineering

Bascially, at CCNY you take half of the CS curriculum like a CS major does, and half of the EE curriculum like a EE does. This may not be true in every college. I have heard that some schools’ CpE curriculum is either more CS, or more EE leaning.

Anyway. The homework, workload really depends on your professor. Some professors may be very practical, and while some are very theoretical even if the course is meant to be practical.
Tell me if you have further questions.
