Hi all! I am an incoming freshman and just submitted my housing preferences to the application that opened today. My roommate and I would really like to live in Monroe for next year, but we wouldn’t mind Sharp either. Our third choice is JL currently, but we are trying to switch it to Greenbaum. I was wondering if anyone knew the chances of getting placed in your first two preferences over the third? I had heard many rumors that if you even list JL (even as a third preference) they automatically place you there. Monroe and Sharp can house many students, but with the new incoming class being so big, I am worried that we may not get placed in any of our top choices. Any experiences or advice with this process would be hugely appreciated!!
You are probably right that listing JL increases your chances of getting placed there. But I don’t think switching to Greenbaum will even be possible. Greenbaum is like Wall, where you have to fill out an extensive application and be selected. I think those deadlines have passed, but I could be wrong. Now if there is still room, there might be a possibility of switching. Only housing would know that. Give them a call.
But don’t be too dismissive of JL. Virtually every young women I have known (or read on here) that lived there wound up loving it, except one. And that was a bad roommate problem, not JL itself.
