First Year Interest Groups (FIGs) at UT Austin

hey guys I have a questionabout the FIG program at UT. I understand about 20 students will have the same classes as you within the FIG program in your major as well, does this mean the classes are just you and the twenty students in the FIG program or is it including them and another 200 in lets say Differential Calculus. The thing I am worried about is the overwhelming class size, isn't the purpose of FIGs is to alleviate that "fear"?

The purpose of FIGs is for you to get to know some other students in your major. You will be in regular-sized classes. You will attend one FIG class a week (for no credit), in which you will have guest speakers, get some extra tutoring, and do some fun activities together. My son’s engineering FIG visited the art museum and ordered in pizza, for example. He said the FIG was helpful for him.
