First year math courses

Just discovered the fall course list on the cornell site the other day and am beginning to think about what to take for math. I really feel comfortable with calc and did well enough on the bc test junior year to get out of calc 1 and 2. I might decide to pursue a math major. Any recomendations for first year math? How hard is math 221? what about taking the 2nd engineering calc (192, multivariable i think) since I sort of like the applied route and sticking with calc instead of linear algebra might be an easier transition. I would appreciate any first hand advice if anyone has it. I hope everyone is enjoying the end of their school years/graduations and summer if you have reached it (yes! :) ) go big red!

also does anyone know when roommate info comes out?

thanks!

Good question. I have been thinking a lot about different math classes, and I figure on Calc 192. I took the BC test with two weeks of the C part self-preparation, so we will see how the score turns out. (School only offers AB) Math is my strongest subject, so I figure even if I don't get a 4 or 5, I would still take the 192. They offer placement tests, and I hope to strengthen on my math over the summer, since I waited to long to prepare for BC. (Didn't know the BC was available to me!)

I believe the entire 191-193 sequence is a good sequence to start with, even if you have AP Credit. (Then start with 192). I sat in on 192 and they were doing Green's Theroum. It was a post-doc teacher, but he was incredible.

BTW, I want to be a physics major, but with that major, a math double major is only a few courses away, so...

is there a placement exam for kids who took multi. var. diff. equations, linear algera and noneuclidean geometry in high school

not sure about that
