First Year Personal Data Form

For those applying, what are you writing for "religious preference"?

I wasn't raised with any religion and consider myself to be an agnostic.
However, I don't want to put that on the application.

Should I just write "none" or "non-denominational" (even though that sounds kinda odd)?
Or should I just leave it blank?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

If you don't want to put agnostic, then leave it blank. Putting non-denominational is saying that you are a Christian but do not stick to one denomination (i.e. Baptist, Methodist)

Just put non-denominational Christian. There are a lot of churches out there which are non-denominational. It doesn't look weird at all.

Or you could choose not to lie by leaving it blank. Rather than pretending to be Christian...

From what I've heard and based on personal experience, I'm almost positive that not being Catholic doesn't hurt you. I put "none" and I got in if that helps you at all.

I also have a question about religious affiliation. I am half-Jewish, half-Protestant (I think). However, I was never really raised in either religion and never went to church, temple, etc. I celebrate Christmas/Easter but also Hanukkah/Passover, etc. Would it be wrong to put Jewish down? Should I just leave it blank?

If I remember correctly, the race and religion questions on the application are optional, and I left both of them blank, and still got in. I don't think it has a huge effect on your chances, especially if you have a strong application anyways. I'd say just leave it blank if you have any doubts about what you would call your religious background.

cewolf1, if your mother is Jewish, there is no question that you could write down that you are Jewish.
