First year schedule (also, how popular are these seminars)

You may apply to 3 at once, I believe. As for what are the chances of getting into a seminar or two... uh... I don't know a percentage... sorry =] just pick what you like, be honest, and try your hardest on your apps. This goes for both fresh/soph seminars. I would guess that chances are pretty low for soph seminar unless it has a low application rate. Remember, you're competing for 15 spots or so, and if you go for soph, all those people have priority over you.

Thanks. Not a lot of seminars are 4 or 5 units so I'm thinking about taking another class but I can't think of anything. Would you advise anything?

Er I don't know... honestly, if you look at my pre-med thread, you'll see that the classes I take tend to be for a specific purpose. I'm not the person to ask about "fun" classes. Perhaps someone else can give suggestions... or you can venture into the world of clubs/volunteering/ethnic-themed organizations and learn more there =]

See you all at the Activities Fair and New Student Service Opportunities Showcase, I hope!

^I don't really want to take 'fun' classes I want to take something that'll help me. Its just that my fall quarter has too little credits (13) which conflicts with my plan of finishing in a bit more than 3 years (I might do a coterminal degree). I'll just think of something there.

Okay, I see. Definitely look at the paper Time Schedule once you get to campus. It's a lot easier to browse that catalog than it is to look at anything online. There are many academic classes that could strike your fancy =] For example, I didn't come to Stanford planning to study neuroscience but I saw the name "Brain and Behavior" and got hooked. Or, if you don't want to explore classes, you can look for a course that fulfills some sort of GE requirement. I do, however, recommend to everyone that at least ONCE in their Stanford career, they take something that truly seems interesting instead of just taking classes that are required.

Thanks celest you've been a major help :)
