Greetings! This is my first year at Cal and I plan to major in either CS (L&S), Cognitive Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Astrophysics. I have already satisfied my R&C requirement. This is my proposed schedule for Spring 2008:

CS [61A]
Math [54]
MCB [61]
Physics [7A]

How balanced is this schedule in terms of difficulty and workload? Is there anything else I should be aware of?

MCB 61 i hear is pretty tough. wait for MCB 62 (same professor--presti) it's drugs and the brain, it's an AWESOME class, i hate science stuff but this class is amazing, all about the history of different plants and the drugs that people derive from them, what they do to the brain and body and stuff...absolutely amazing.

Too many sciences, especially since they're all tough science courses. I think Math 54 or MCB 61 can be put off until your second-year, unless you are taking MCB 61 to decide whether or not you want to major in Cog-Sci.

If you are pretty good at math, and have taken AP Physics in high school, and have some programming experience, I think it's a great schedule. Hard work but you'll love every minute of it. If this is your first "hard" physics class, or you really have no programming experience, I agree about moving Math 54 to next year.

I think I'll drop MCB 61 this semester and replace it with a seminar or something. I don't have any physics (negligible) or programming experience. T_T"

If you don't have any physics or programming experience, Physics 7A and CS 61A are going to require a lot of time and energy. These are true foundation classes, they deserve all the attention you can give them.
