I have heard that some first year seminars don't have finals. Is this true for all, most or only a few? Thanks.

It is definitely not true for all, and I dont think most either. My guess is that it's somewhere around 40% or so not having finals. But either way, seminars are meant to be easy and to expand your mind, so don't think there's going to be a hard test at the end of any of the courses.

Would anybody recommend the seminar "Libations of the Gods: Alcohol & Other Mind Altering Substances"? Like, is it hard? Is it a good seminar?

what about Religion, Violence, and Media with Mandair,Arvind-pal S?

What do seminar classes consist of? Research papers? Attendence?

Thanks! I have already signed up for a first-year seminar. I chose the seminar based on the professor ratings by former students and the subject matter. So, whether the class has a final or not didn't impact my decision. However, truth be told, one less final my first semester wouldn't hurt my feelings. I guess I'll find out when the syllabus is issued.
