Have you guys started registering to FYS?
I see courses have already got some places occupied: First Year Seminars

We can begin registering o.o?!

When I try to register for a class the website says I must be logged for this option?
But I saw that some places were occupied?
What does the website say when you try to register?

i know sometimes upperclasswomen sign up to take seminars because they havent done so yet, so maybe thats why some spots are taken. i think but im not sure lol

I think pinklilflower is right. Upperclass women are supposed to register for classes I think till Apr 27, something like that lol. But we are not supposed to yet.

Upperclass students finished registering for classes more than a week ago. There is a lot of changeover in classes in September when you meet with your academic advisors. In picking your classes, consider the requirements in science, science lab, language, multicultural, humanities and phys ed. My D was able to get almost all requirements except for phys ed out of the way during her first year. It was fairly easy with some planning. With the behind her, she is free to take anything.

@ConCernedDad:
Did your daughter plan it beforehand or did she plan it together with her advisor? I’m not sure what to expect from an advisor (never had one before), and I don’t know if I’m supposed to plan everything out then ask my advisor for his/her opinion or if I sorta do it from scratch with them.

Entering fall firsties will have to register for classed by mid-june, I think. You will meet with your adsisor in September, 2+/- days before classes begin. Thus, you will have to make some initial decisions on your own before you initially register for classes. You will be in college, not high school. Your hand will not be held in college. You will need to do your own planning. Your advisor will be selected based upon your intended major or interest which you will provide in a survery over the summer. If you do not yet know your major or interest, you will still get an advisor. You can start to chjeck classes now on ISIS. The catalog is on line also and discusses general requirements and requirements for each of the majors. Study them. It will be fun. YOU are in charge.

this is a dumb question, but how many classes do we register for during mid-june. it’s just the first semester right? or is it for the entire year?

@ConCernedDad
Thanks for your answer :)

In June you register for your first term classes. PE classes are for one quarter or 2 quarters. PE classes fill up quickly. Some PE classes are already filled up by upperclass women.

For first term, I think the maximum number of credits that you can register for is 18 credits. (This info should be on ISIS or in the catalog) If you want to take more credits, you need your advisor’s permission, which you can get in September.

This brings back some great memories - sitting in the living room at my parents’ house and picking out classes for my first semester at MHC from the catalog (paper in those days!).

Congratulations, firsties! Y’all are in for a great four years!
