First Year Seminars

My pass 2 is tomorrow and I’m hoping to register for a first year seminar, preferably with two credits. Any recommendations on a good first year seminar? and if possible could you include a CRN.

First year seminars are a giant waste of time, IMO. Take a real class.

Take a freshman sem class. The reason that they are there is so that you can have a light class in your first year/quarter while you get adjusted to living on campus on your own, while you figure out your study habits, and everything else. They are really recommended, and are for freshman so that they get a lighter load when first coming to college. Take it, it is a good idea.

Seconded with theReach.

The REAL reason they’re there is so that if you have a good schedule of what you want and need an extra couple units for finaid or minimum completion, you can get it. However, they are a waste of time and your efforts are better spent on a real class. Plus, if you do it right, your real classes should add up to a manageable schedule that meets finaid and minimum completion.

Only take it if it REALLY interests you. Alternatively, I think it might be a good way to get to know a professor.
