We were trying to encourage our son to organize something for BC Freshmen in the SF Bay Area to meet his fellow classmates before move in and Orientation #7. In today’s mail we received an invite, from BC, for a First Year Sendoff get together for Bay Area students and families. Nice touch! We are looking forward to meeting other Bay Area BC families and students…we plan on attending.

We’ll be going! We live in Danville.

Dear SFBayAreaDad : The regional/local BC Get Acquainted Gatherings held through the summer months into early August are a great ice-breaker to get to meet parents and students who will often have the same questions as your own family. The hosting family for the Get Acquainted session will help answer questions and typically there will be alumni from the local BC Chapter to offer additional thoughts. While your student might not remember the folks he/she meets when they eventually arrive on campus, at least there will be the notion that some others will be there!

Do you know if they’re doing one in San Diego?

@stanford78…The event is sponsored by BC Parent Development Office. I don’t know about San Diego, however, you might give a call the office to check…(617) 552-9083.

None is San Diego. Huntington Beach & Pacific Palisades is it for So Cal.

Anyone know if there is a sendoff in Oregon?

Just got email from BC Development Office and they are looking into possibility of organizing send off in San Diego.

That would be great. There are lots of kids from San Diego heading that way next year - 3 from my daughter’s school alone.
