I'm beginning to research what colleges to apply to. I was thinking about UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI, USC, U of Chicago, Boston U, U of Rochester, Northwestern, American U, Emory. Are these choices reasonable/ any other recommendations? Everyone in CC is so talented and are worrying about 4.0 GPA's, it's making me nervous!

Thanks in advance!!! ^.^

Your UC GPA is 3.65. You have great test scores for the GPA, and kind of normal ECs. You have done excellently in your preliminary college courses. Based upon this, your chances at the schools you mentioned (and the other UC campuses) are:

UCB/UCLA--Reach
UCSD--Slight Reach to Reach
UCD/UCI/UCSB--Match to Slight Reach (much closer to Match I'd say--mostly because of the really good test scores)
UCSC/UCR--Safe Match to Match
UCM--Safe Match
USC--Slight Reach
U of Chicago--Slight Reach to Reach
Boston U--Match
U of Rochester--Match to Slight Reach (closer to Slight Reach)
Northwestern--Big Reach
American U--Match
Emory--Reach

I'd look strongly at UCD, UCI, Univ of Rochester, American, and, as a reach, possibly USC. Those are your closest matches and all have the majors you are interested in (you've obviously done your "homework" in this regard). For other good journalism schools where your stats would get you in, consider the University of Missouri (Columbia) and Indiana University at Bloomington. For IR, first I'd say USC, then American Univ and UCI, then possibly Chapman as another possibility.

The most affordable of these schools will be UCI and UCD--especially whichever of these two is closest to your home.

Best of success to you.

Hey u are much similiar to me. I have a 3.575 gpa am a coming junior can u tell me what steps to do to go to a college like usc?

do not F_ up!!! i did my junior year and im regretting it. i had a C in arch tech (supposedly a stupidly easy class) because i took that class for granted (i didnt care, i still had 4.0). do not get lazy and keep goin on the computer evry day; u will regret it.i coulda had 4.5s my junior yr but im too dam lazy, so only 4.0s
