i have a salt water reef tank and i really want to take it with me to my dorm in the halls. What is the limit? 10 gallons? will i have space to put it on my desk?

can i opt for a bunk bed so that all my desks and **** can go underneath?

Are there items that I shouldn't bring to on-campus housing?

Due to fire insurance and health and safety requirements, the following items are not allowed in your room or building: halogen lamps, coffee makers, hot water dispensers, toasters, toaster ovens, freestanding microwaves, any appliances with open coils, flammable materials such as candles, gas stoves, and barbecues; electric space heaters, any animals (including fish), waterbeds, materials to make bed lofts, or dartboards.

--- So tanks would be ok as long as it doesn't have fish in them?

you know what actually... as long as you don't bring something so conspicuous and your RA's cool about it, then it doesn't matter. i mean, my floor had things from turtles (that's me), to fish, to reptiles, to scorpions.. everything! don't bring it in the beginning... check out the place. see what type of person your RA is.. some of them could care less as long as you don't cause trouble by bringing some strange pet. but some could just be very... ehh, you know what i mean.

my Program Assistant (as well as several other residents on my floor) have the fish bowl with fish in them. the Faculty-in-Residence on my floor has a bigger fish tank with fish in them. not sure if that's legal or not, but it seems like many people do have fish as pets.
