I was accepted into the honors program and have been told that automatically qualifies me to be admitted to Fisher. I also know that each specialization is a different level of difficulty to get into. By being accepted as an incoming freshman am I also automatically in whichever specialization I choose?

My second question is can you double major within Fisher. For example am I able to specialize in Economics and Finances if I want to? Lastly when looking at the website it seemed to list two minors, can I not minor within the school of business unless it is one of the two stated minors?

You are right on all counts- honors students are automatically admitted to their majors and thus do not have to apply; you can choose to double major within Fisher and many students do; and there are not minors for every business major, just econ and a general business minor for non-business students. There is no finance minor or anything like that, just the major.

I am a third-year Finance major with an econ minor, in the Contract Honors Program at Fisher, and I would not have had the time to have a second major without going an additional semester or two. People who do double major generally choose majors with fewer requirements (finance is at the higher-end), and some need to take summer classes, or take very packed schedules. I honestly don’t recommend it unless you have a very specific reason for the double major.

If you are excellent at math, a math double major would look very impressive to recruiters, especially if you want to work in investment banking or a similarly competitive field. Econ, less so.

Thank you very much for the reply. My original plan actually is to major in finance and then minor in econ. I was curious if it was possible to double major if I chose to go down that path.
