My son has been accepted to both Ohio and Smeal and plans on majoring in finance. He is unsure about which school to attend. Which is better academically?

Academically both are exactly the same…Its just that Penn State has less students comapred to Ohio State and Ohio State is in a city…Penn State received like 41k applications whereas OSU received around 26k last year…if that makes any difference

Smeal is generally ranked higher (for what it’s worth). For example businessweek, [Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2012 - Businessweek](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?), has Smeal 22 (#1 for corporate recruiters) and Fisher 68. But I’m sure Fisher also has a good program. Is oos/in state tuition a consideration? Remember that at Smeal students need to maintain a 3.5 GPA to enter into the Finance major after their sophomore year - so only high achieving students graduate from Smeal with a Finance degree…

OSU is ranked higher in USnews. I believe OSU is #17 for undergraduate and #25 for graduate while Penn state is #21 undergrad and #44 for grad. But I feel as if you’ll get a good education wherever. Also OSU get 97.6% of their grad students employed within 3 months after graduating. I would probably go to OSU, but i’m a little biased. BTW I got into both and both are excellent schools but i think OSU gives you a better bargain.
