I'm a senior in hs and applying to the Fashion Institute of Technology for advertising and marketing communications. my essay is not completed or even close but i would like feedback for what i have already. i don't really know what else to include. the topic is: "What makes you a perfect candidate for FIT? Why are you interested in the major you are applying to?"

Nothing is ever handed to you. Hard work and dedication is the key to success. Throughout my entire junior high school experience, administrators kept stressing, "To whom much is given, much is required." This quote carried on with me all through high school and gave me much inspiration. Like any other human experience, there are roadblocks that put me at a low state, but I've learned to surpass them and keep it moving.
Coming from a performing arts background, I feel that I have the creativity to accomplish many great things at FIT. I can visualize concepts in my mind and bring them to life.* Growing up in New York City and being around so much talent made me want to pursue dance as my career. As the years went by, I realized that the limelight is not where i want to be. Instead, I felt like I would be better as a support system and a stepping stone. I know what performers go through because I've been there. My inspiration comes from those in the performing arts, those who push themselves & won't stop until they get what they want, even if that means sleepless nights or sacrificing something important.
Many people chase the same dreams that I have just for the glitz and glamour. That is the last thing on my mind. I like to work extremely hard and at the end when I see the outcome of something I've created, i want to say I did it all by myself and it wasn't easy but I put my everything into it.*I aspire to be in the media industry. I feel that I have the capability to achieve my goals. It's all about persistence.
Not many 17 year olds can say that they know exactly what they want do for living and that's what sets me apart from others who are my age. I don't linger around. This summer I took the liberty to go ahead and contact many casting agencies merely for advice. To my surprise, i got many great responses that were very helpful to me. One piece of advice that was given to me was to study advertising and marketing. I am aware that many school provide this major, but I don't just want to settle for any school. FIT has the talent and creativity of people such as fashion students and artists that I need to be surrounded by in order to grow.
Plenty of other colleges were suggested to me but there was no way that i was going to leave New York City. First of all, I'd be trap in a college dorm in a suburban community. It would be impossible for me to achieve my long term goals there because I wouldn't have access to the advertising and marketing or media industry. Also, I would not like to be associated with schools that have sororities and fraternities. It doesn't seem professional to me and it would be a great distraction.
