<p>I just applied to the dorms. I actually live in Queens, very far from the school, but not far enough to be considered for housing, so I used the address of a friend who lives in L.I. So my question is...anyone know how long they take to accept you into housing? And whats my probability of being accepted into th dorms? Also if you happen to know...which ones are the best? I put Co-ed as my first choice...

<p>hey...i think any of the dorms are nice, i have a friend in coed and its pretty good. question for you--- what major did u get accepted into...i applied for interior design, i had my portfolio review and they recommended my portfolio for admission....does that mean i'm pretty much in...how soon did you find out after your portfolio review? <p>hey. thanks for responding. im in accessories design. yeah, if the person who reveiwed you likes you, you're in. the professor i got, who is the head of my department was really nice and she said if for some reason i dont get in to call her and she will pull strings, so maybe you can do the same thing. but for the most part, the reveiwer makes or breaks you...they could care less about grades and stuff. </p>
<p>i found out exactly around this time(i was accpeted last year but took the year off).this is when they start sending out the acceptance letters so look out, it could be any day now. if you applied for next spring or something though, then dont expect it until at least the end of the summer maybe later.</p>

I have a friend who lives in Long Island and I want to change my address. How do I do that on the application? Would they need any paperwork or anything? Since i really want to dorm.</p>

<p>I’ve seen on the Facebook page some acceptances for Fall 2010…is it true that students who live in NYC dont get dorm rooms? If so that will put FIT at the bottom of the list for my D. I asked that question at the information session and was told there is no preference when it comes to dorms for out of state vs nyc students but I have seen otherwise on these forums…hmmm</p>

I don’t think so. I live in Westchester and by car it takes about a half hour to get to FIT. But I know two people from my high school who went to FIT and dormed there for their freshman year. They could “easily” commute but they were able to dorm. So, I don’t think how close or how far you live from campus evaluates your chance of housing. When I went to visit the school they said anyone is eligible for housing. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they held more priority on students who live out of state or live in Staten Island, Queens, or Long Island. </p>
<p>But from what I’ve read a lot of people don’t live on-campus. A lot of people opt to live off campus for some reason whether they’re a freshman or upperclassmen. I don’t think dorming is hard to get nor do I believe its over crowded but for some reason a lot of people chose to live on their own. Me personally I’d rather dorm my first two years. After that I might get creative when decide to live off campus.</p>
