Hi I am Simone and I am applying to FIT for Fashion Merchendising AAS the soon to be going on to Fabric Styling. Can you help me proof read my essay and help me smooth it out thanks :) I just wrote this and just wanted to get some opinions so far .

What makes you a perfect candidate for FIT? Why are you interested in the major you are applying to?

Looking back at my childhood I don't remember sitting down and watching television and playing video games. Instead we had no television and I didn't have much toys but my mom would pull out her sewing machine and sew for hours and I would watch in curiosity as I watch her make clothes from fabric and see her turn it into something that could be worn. I would sit and watch her until she had asked me if I wanted to try and since I felt the power in the sewing machine and to help make something and see it come to life I knew I had to find out more. I have always been able to express myself and have a creative output on everything. As I got older I started doing more research and looking at every magazine I could get my hands on and just stare for hours fascinated by the whole thing. The magazines I always picked first would be Vogue with the incredibly thick pages filled with so much information that I just wanted to process. I would go over my cousins house and he would have a collection of high end magazines and Vogue dating back to 1999 which was a big deal for me. I would sit there just gazing at each page and just wondering what goes on behind the scenes to get it all put together.

I never got an opportunity to be in trendy outfits well at least the ones I could find at the thrift store at the time I never had a chance to wear what I dreamed off and gazed at for hours in magazines heck I have never walked into a high end store. I didn't let that be a set back for instead I did all of the research I could and from that I now follow over 200 fashion blogs and I can name any piece of clothing high end just from a glance and I have a eye for trends and new designers. Womens Wear Daily has become my daily bible that I just cannot live without I can remember watching a documentary of Dione Von Furstenburg and she was describing how she got started and made her legendary wrap dress and her story was so inspiring to me. Of course Coco Chanel story was inspiring to every fashionista how she always thought out of the box and came from so little and created an empire to empower the everyday chic woman.

FIT is just more than a learning institution to me it is a stepping stone to my near future of what I sat and daydreamed about for the past seventeen years. It has been the school that I have been wanting to go to for 6 years now ever since I saw my cousin making his dream come true by going to FIT and telling me about his internship and college experiences. I have waited for the moment for so long and I plan to go head on and don't stop until I push the door down to my dreams. My mom taught me to be a strong person and not to give up on your dreams or let anyone steer you from them.

Fashion Merchandising Management(AAS) is my calling I have been stalking trends and following every runway show since I can remember looking at all the fashion blogs and WWD keeping up. I have the drive and creativity and passion to start my journey in this fast paced industry and soon enough make my mark in the industry and soon enough continue to becoming a Stylist and get my (BFA) degree in Fabric Styling to start fulfilling what I know I was meant to do and have the talent for.
