Hi I just applied for the 3 year AAS Fashion Design Evening/Weekend and am nervously waiting the results. Any other FD majors here?
@luxelion19 I’m a Transfer FD major tooo!
Hi guys! I have a quick financial aid question. On my Financial Aid Checklist, it says I have to turn in a “Federal Verification Worksheet for Dependent Students (DV-1)” and a “Parent 2015 IRS Data Retrieval or Tax Transcript” by Feb. 1st, but my financial aid checklist just became available on the 3rd of February! I went back and checked and it said that the IRS Tax Transcript was waived, but not the Dependent Worksheet. Has anyone else turned these things in??
@wardamoosa9 hey i pmed you
Hello everyone, I’m currently a junior high school and I’m from Venezuela. Since I’m an international or foreigner/non usa based person/student I want to get informed and very precise on everything before I graduate. I want to apply for advertising and marketing communications major at FIT, and one of my biggest concerns right now is the essay, since here in Venezuela for university acceptances and aplications an essay is not required at all, and since I read so many people talking about how they got their essays looked up for so many people, and reviewed, etc, how they spent months on it, I’m very worried because there’s no one here in my country I can ask for help and guidance on writing my essay (as I mentioned before, here is Venezuela university essays for entrance are not needed at all, so there’s something no one has experience on that matter). So if any one here can help me out with this issue or i don’t know, has any information to share with me, everything will be happily recieved. I hope you all understand my current state of worrying as an international/foreigner person.
You will be fine just focus on the reason why you want to go there. I primarily put my parents coming to the US to start a better life and how that motivates me in life to succeed and wanting to go to FIT for that reason. I probably wrote like three paragraphs and that was enough to illustrate my point. I got accepted back in 2014 and just did the essay right away when I was filling out my application. Good luck!
@Vanesacruz22 what major did you get into?
Anyone that lives international received the financial pamphlets? Cause I didint get one so far…so nervous !
I also applied for A&MC, but my ultimate goal is to get my bachelors in Cosmetic and Fragrance marketing. So, I wrote more about that than I did A&MC. I really hope that was the right choice!
I applied for FBM 1 year AAS for the fall semester and I’m going to community college. At the end of the semester I will have 27 credits completed. I don’t know if this will make me eligible for the 1 year AAS. Should I change my application to the 2 year AAS? What should I do?
@jack823 I got accepted into AMC
@vMegancx - Someone who submitted a question to FIT’s Facebook forum was in a similar situation as you. They said, “I’m applying for the one-year AAS. What happens if the decision is that my credits are not transferable? Do I still have a chance to re-apply for the two-year AAS?” FIT replied, “If you are not eligible for the 1 year program we will automatically put you into the 2 year.”
I will mention that this query was posted 4.5 years ago, but I doubt if FIT’s policies have changed. Additionally, I received an email today reminding me of what their one-year AAS qualifications were. At the very end it stated, “If you wish to begin your studies in fall 2016 but are not able to complete the required courses for one-year eligibility, you may also change your major to the two-year associate degree program. Please note that if you begin your studies in the two-year program, you cannot change to the one-year program at a later time.”
Basically it seems that if you apply for a one-year AAS, there’s a little wiggle room available to allow you to change your mind so that you can transfer into the two-year program. However, if you apply to the two-year AAS from the beginning, you’re locked in.
Hope this helps.
@xMegancx I emailed admissions about this very thing yesterday actually and recieved this reply today “We evaluate applicants based on the highest level of eligibility. You should be receiving an acceptance letter soon if you have not already.”
I’m assuming they will adjust you application based on what you qualify for and
2nd: does this mean I’m accepted?!??!! And I wasn’t expecting anything until April??!!?
@haysta4546 - From what I’ve read in various FIT forums, people start receiving acceptance letters as early as mid-March. Congratulations!!!
@OneLifeOneChance thanks for your help!
as a first year student for Fall 2016 or a transfer?
has anyone sent in their financial aid yet? if so does anyone’s financial aid checklist say Initial financial aid review application pending to be reviewed does this mean they received it?
All I’ve sent them is my fafsa. Was there something else I was supposed to do? Ugh this process is so confusing
@jack823 it says that because they still haven’t reviewed Fall 2016 financial aid information. I called them the other day with the same question, you’re good!
@nubby4life Check your Financial Aid Checklist through the MyFIT portal to see what you’re missing. FIT requires a tax transcript/the data retrieval tool when you file for aid and a Federal Verification Worksheet for Dependent Students (DV-1).
i’m not eligible for financial aid. does that mean i don’t have to concern myself with the “tax transcript/data retrieval tool”?
