FIT Fall 2017 Applications

Just wanted to say congrats to all who have been accepted so far!!! So exciting! Nice to finally see some action! We are still patiently waiting to see what unfolds here…

Just know that FIT works on admission decisions in batches, and everyone that got accepted so far seem to live, or live really close to new york!! LA is on the opposite side so it’ll probably take longer to arrive!

@pinkmomagain Thank you! and best of luck!
@Larriealumni Agreed!

I am going to… I have yet to do it because the project for the school includes drawing and I can’t draw and am worried that that entails that the courses contain drawing/sewing (which I don’t want to do). Also FIDM doesn’t offer housing so I would have to get an apartment out there (40 min from my house) and its SO expensive. I’m really not trying to live at home anymore. @Itsyourlife

Your COA really is the indication you need that your file has been looked over and they’ve decided to admit you to the school. Financial aid is a completely separate process from everything else because it’s a different department that handles that. If your COA hasn’t changed yet, don’t worry or panic: it most likely means they just haven’t gotten to you yet, but – considering the letters that have gone out – they should be soon. As I said before, the girl I spoke to at FIT, a freshman this year, told me that her COA changed really late last year (early April), but she got her letter the very next day. She told me that it is basically the notice that you’ve been admitted and that you’ll be receiving your packet soon.

Oh, and it’s common for kids on the West Coast to have to wait a tad bit longer. It’s very regional, from what I’ve heard, and is showing to be true so far.

Okay awesome! Thank you!! I’m just getting anxious looking at slightly recent posts seeing everyone say their COA changed. They also received my transcripts RIGHT on Feb. 1st. I had UPS require a signature so I know they were received but they haven’t updated my application where it says date received it’s blank. I keep trying to call the school to confirm my anxieties but then I forgot that I live in Cali and they’re 3 hours ahead so everytime I call they’re closed.

I’m in NY and i still didn’t get a reply. @__@. I have a feeling i didn’t get in. But that’s just me.

@jordynl you may have to commute if you do get accepted. I will be traveling about 2hrs one way to FIT if i get accepted. It’s really expensive to just rent something out by yourself.

Only outstanding applicants have heard back. The rest, the letter said, will hear the week of April 1.

Do you mean FIDM or FIT? If I get into FIT I’ll be in the dorms. @ArtMajor03

My gpa was 4.0 and I got into Fashion Design AAS

@jordynl I finished the project for FIDM and then when I thought about being 3,000 miles from home, I got cold feet, I totally get trying not to live at home. Like @Virgo25AD said, there’s still plenty of time for you COA to change.

@jordynl Sorry, i read that wrong.

@Itsyourlife Thank you for taking the time out of your day to respond! All of you guys!! I really hope so. You guys are so helpful. Congrats to you and good luck everyone else

Omg so exciting to hear about all of these acceptances coming out! Congrats to everyone who’s been accepted so far!! I’m from the upstate NY area so I’m hoping that if they’re sending batches of letters out by region, I’ll hear back soonish? I’m a couple hours away from the city (by car) and my COA changed a little while ago!

@ArtMajor03 I’m from Western New York (think Buffalo area), and I didn’t receive anything today either. I really don’t think a whole lot of people received much today. They probably did it regionally, but focused on the honors kids first too. Receiving mail, and when it was actually sent, can be a very finicky process anyways. I know everybody is extremely anxious – myself included – but I’ve looked at enough forums from past years to know that some of us might be waiting till well into April.

Any international students waiting or accepted? So nervous right now since people are starting to get notified. Seems international students also get notified by mail and they get a tracking number information from DHL by email. Since last year they started getting acceptance letter about 3/12, and the first comment by international student who got this DHL email is around 3/25, we will probably have to wait longer…

@Virgo25AD I’m on Long Island, and i’m nervous as all heck. Hahaha. Well i’ll keep my hooves crossed for us. You know they could use this method to torture people. I hope it comes a bit before April, i don’t think i can wait that long.

Same I don’t know how I’ll hold up if I have to wait until past April 1st
