FIT Fall 2017 Applications

Congrats to everyone!! I wonder if any transfer have heard anything yet.

@memelover666 Yea i know.

Did you guys in general get an email telling you by when you will get a letter in the mail? Mine said by April 1st.

@ArtMajor03 I’m confident that so many people on this discussion thread will be receiving their letters soon, being offered acceptance into FIT. This seems to be a bit of a smaller class compared to previous years (just basing that off of the number of views/comments compared to other years), but a very well-qualified group. Most people in past years who got rejected and commented about it, they really had glaring weaknesses in their GPAs – meaning that they were sub-3.0 students.

@Virgo25AD what does sub-3.0 students mean? Cause my gpa is like 3.0 or so as a transfer student.

@ArtMajor03 I got the same email, promulgating that I’d receive my letter by April 1. That’s why I was questioning the whole thing about them not mailing out decisions until April 1. That didn’t jive with everything they’d been saying, and today is a great indication that they stuck to their word from that email.

IDK if it’s true, but I heard that it is usually easier to get accepted as a transfer. Especially for those applying to the 1 year AAS programs due to many people not usually having qualifying credits…

@ArtMajor03 It means those students had GPAs below 3.0, which is bad for the business school. Students part of the design programs typically have more leeway with their actual stats, because that’s more of a talent-based curriculum that isn’t really taught to kids in school. It’s more innate ability. The business school is more academic, in terms of how well you perform in those classes. The essay, though, that’s always viewed as THE most important part of the application, especially for business students because we don’t do a portfolio or anything.

Yeah I heard there is a better chance of getting in as a transfer.

I didn’t get that email…

@Virgo25AD Oh, i am sweating now!!! AHHHH!!! If i wont get into FIT at least i got accepted into SVA.

@Pankobreading I hope so, im sweating here. I’m too old for this. My heart is not as strong as you youngins.

I hope that isn’t a bad sign

@younglordawn I hope so.

@Pankobreading i got that email after i finished my application.

I feel like the majority of the people on this forum are transfers and only few are High school seniors.

Transfers (I’m a transfer) also have a proven track record of being able to perform up to an academic standard in college, whereas everything with high school applicants is just a projection-based assessment. That’s why AP classes for high school kids are important: They’re as close as you can come to college-level courses without actually taking college coursework.

Hey guys! I’m new to talking on here but I’ve been following this discussion for about 3 months now lol. I’m from central New York and I applied for the film and media program and my COA is still 0.0 so I’m stressing out like crazy. This school is my #1 and if I don’t get accepted idk what I’ll end up doing lol. My gpa is 3.24 and I wouldn’t think the film program at a fashion school would be too competitive compared to other schools so I’m really hoping I still have a chance.

@Virgo25AD As an art major and someone who doesn’t have any talent … it was nice chatting with you all. I’m really not getting in there now. And i messed up the essay so bad because i didn’t know what to write. O M G! I’m sweating. Thanks Virgo25AD, you’re a pal. T__T. Man, that really sucks though. I think you’ll be accepted. I’m getting a good vibe.

@denverdylan I wish you luck! I hope ya get in. Did you have to submit a portfolio?

@artmajor03 I am sure you’ll be fine. There was someone on the Fall 2015 or 2016 thread that got in with a 2.9 GPA as a transfer.

@ArtMajor03 I feel the same way… :frowning:

I know that (from an admissions meeting) that the overall school acceptance rate is 44%, but the fashion design acceptance rate is 10%
