Eightd: Did you notice change on Financial Aid Review and then got the acceptance letter? Or got the letter and then noticed the change? I guess what I’m trying to see if the Financial aid people are updating things before sending the letters. Thanks
TGmom2022: Since the other person noticed the change and got the letter of acceptance, it seems you have a very good reason to be optimistic (given you noticed the change on the financial aid status). I don’t think one can say that no change on the financial aid status means bad news.
My son’s changed to “Financial Aid Package available in April” today and his COA changed the first week of February…he had his app and portfolio submitted in December- but he is still waiting on his letter…
For Newton316: Do you live outside NY?
Hey everyone! I’m currently in my second semester at FIT majoring in AMC, I was going through my phone and found this website again, so I figured I would share my experience with admissions since I know at this time last year I was going crazy! Here are some random facts
•my COA had an amount starting in about mid February (i know people who’s COA said $0 but got acceted)
•the portal said my academic something (i don’t remember exactly) “has not been reviewed as of fall 2018” for the entire time, in fact I think it still says that. I don’t think this part of the portal means anything at all
•I got my acceptance letter March 31st
•I did not apply for the honors program, although I wish I did
• I live in New York State, 5 hours from the city
• about 2 weeks before I got my letter I got an email asking me to apply for the baker scholarship (this pretty much gave it away, they wouldn’t ask someone to apply for a scholarship if they weren’t even going to be accepted)
•EVERY acceptance letter says “outstanding applicant” it’s unfortunately nothing special… other than the fact that FIT liked you and accepted you
I hoped this was able to help someone! If you’re meant to be at FIT you’ll get in! Best of luck to you all!
No. We live in upstate NY, near Saratoga.
new here, when you mean COA does it change from “These estimations are for academic year 2018-2019” to something else?
@dorozco No letter or email yet.
@hallieeshayne No COA changes from $0 to some number and the overall page says something like
“Your estimated cost of attendance is $XXXXXXX”
where do I find that? would that still be there if I never filled out fasfa
Go to Myfit click “Go to My Financial Aid Checklist” and click the Award Overview tab.
No idea about the Fasfa stuff.
thank you! so if it says “Your cost of attendance has not been estimated for Academic Year 2019-2020” is that a bad sign? also a professor from FIT like one of my photos from my instagram (a good one nothing sketchy) should I be concerned? lol
I think at this point you have no reason to be concerned. In last year’s thread, it looks like tons of people made it woulda COA change. There were 2 people who’s COD after April 1st that ended up getting waitlisted. Last year people were getting letters going into the 2nd or 3rd week of April.
@25marissa25 BTW, Thank you for the info that helps a ton.
aghhh i hope i get a decison before next weekend because i’m visiting ny to look at sva and if i don’t know if i got into fit at that point idk if i’ll even look at it
What exactly is honors program?
how are you all finding your COA? I can’t seem to find it on my account. Also have any transfer students found out if they got in yet?
My financial aid checklist changed status from “Award available pending admission” to “Financial Aid Package Available in April”. Does this mean anything special/did anyone who received the letter notice this change? I see numbers in the “Awards Overview” tab as well, but I’m not sure if that was there before or not. Also, is there any indication of whether or not you got accepted in the online portal, or does only the letter notify you?
I am a transfer student and applied for FBM, i haven’t gotten a letter yet. good luck to everyone!!! who’s all out of state ?
@cassidyls. I would plan on seeing FIT just in case. You can always cancel.
Tour the housing at SVA. I wasn’t very impressed bc the bedrooms seemed small but the rooms we saw were a total mess and full of stuff. Note that SVA doesn’t have a cafeteria so the rooms have kitchens on 23st and the 24st has communal kitchens.
Hey everyone! This forum has been a life saver, so many people are helping each other and it’s great! Im a transfer into Textiles and Surface Design, from VA. I applied last year but got rejected. So being hopeful that I get a different response this year!
@Wrathfuljelly Did you notice any difference in your application account between this year and last? Like your Cost of Attendance price changing from $0 to something else?
