Got in about 29 miles on my bike today. Took my husband to a local wildlife refuge someone took me to earlier this week. I had no idea it existed within 15ish minutes of my house. (Sorry if I’m repeating this).
It’s not a place I would feel comfortable riding all by myself, but it’s a 6 mile out and back ride, and the other way is 2.5 miles out and back. So we did the 6 miler both ways twice and the 2.5 miles once.
During the week the place is almost deserted, but today there was some traffic. But I’m guessing we “interacted” with less than 10 cars the entire time, and they were going very slow.
I’m seeing the Rogue Invitational in my IG feed. You watching @sushiritto ?
Yesterday, finally (!!!) managed Benching 103# for 2 triples. Did a third triple just to prove something.
Followed that with some back-off sets and — whew — volume press after was tough.
Press was 66# x 5 then 4 + F then another 4 + F then 4
By time I got to chins, the power bank was getting low. I could not match or beat last week, but I’m content.
Mysteriously, my elbow is less irritated. Now that I’ve typed that out? Haha! Watch it wake me at 2 am!
Today was a PR deadlift of 225 for a triple and that felt heavy. Volume squats at 145# were smooth.
Looking forward to enjoying the cooler weather here!
But of course. ![]()
Pools are allowed to open here but the main city ones and suburb ones I know about have decided NOT to open anyway. (Ohio) I think they feel like it’s too risky. They didn’t indicate hiring lifeguards would be a problem but perhaps that was also an issue.
3.5 mile run this morning and then been ON THE RUN most of the day outside - painting, cutting grass, some walking. It’s so nice out I might take another walk - but regardless I’m at 27K steps at the moment!
The pool in our development is open. Strangely, it is a huge pool for a neighborhood pool- it is just short of 50 meters long and has lanes but no ropes for the length. There are some ropes that go sideways for swim team. Anyway, it’s a great pool. The rules and requirements this year are daunting. You have to sign up for a time slot of 2 hours, which is really 90 minutes by the time you are screened, checked in and then leave at the end through a different gate so they can sanitize for the next time slot. I haven’t been yet. All the nice lounge chairs have been removed so you have to bring your own. The whole process and instructions is about as low stress as going to the DMV. I totally get it, but I’m going to really want to go before I try to grab a time slot first thing in the morning.
After a 1,000m warmup row, my strength session was cleans. I got to 90% and then I psyched myself out when I added another whole 5 lbs and then decided to move on to the HIIT. ? The HIIT time clocked at 21:25 and consisted of jumping rope, cleans and pull-ups. And I finished with 30 glute ham raises.
I can’t wait to get back to the gym.
SushiPup drives me crazy. She licks me in between reps, steals my shirt and runs away with it and when I close the door on her she barks. And when I’m doing the glute ham raises, she’s dancing on her hind legs trying to maybe to lick my head when I’m on the downstroke. When I bench press, she likes sitting on the bench, when I vacate it for some water or whatever.
Gyms may open in mid-August here. ??
Pets are a big help…when I used to do planks, my cats would get on my back.
I got 30 miles on my bike in today.
I need to go in to work the next 2 days, so don’t know that I’ll do any riding.
The weather here is Maryland is spectacular this weekend.
Soon it will be hot and sticky.
Lol! My cat would stretch out on under my chest.
Works for planks, not so much for pushups.
4.3 miles this morning. Survived. Need to take a really easy week this coming week to get my legs back a little- while still progressing across Tennessee. I’m over 45% of the way there.
@1214mom I 'm just across the river in NoVA and loving this weather! We have been lucky in that aspect this year and I’m hoping it will continue.
Short (2 mile ) treadmill run this morning , then H and I took a 3 mile walk. Today is H’s birthday, so I am skipping yoga. Baked a blueberry pie (he prefers it to cake), so I will have a rare dessert later.
today was a complete rest day before I jump back in tomorrow with phase 3 of P90X or my modified version. I skip some of the workouts (i.e. kenpo and I think I’ll do his 68 min P90X2 yoga workout instead of the 90 min one)
H made me go inside the gym today to see what it looks like. They have 2/3 of the cardio blocked off. But they moved the stairmonsters. Before they closed 1/2 but now they have both open - one in front of the other and closed TMs on either side. Good plan! They have a million TMs. I also heard .their 30% capacity allows for 150 people. I think 50 people would be a super packed morning here. Lol. So now I want to go back especially looking at a solid week of rain. I am trying to hold out until older S moves in 2.5 weeks though. Ugh. I wish he hadn’t made me go in. I was fine before! Hopefully this old brain will forget. It seems to forget everything else. Lol
@FallGirl Pie is always the correct answer! Your H obviously has excellent taste!
@1214mom I am loving this cooler weather in NE IL. Squeezing in as much outside time as possible!
It’s breezy too, so I was able to make headway weeding in the section of the yard that is Mosquito City.
I’ve been taking advantage of not hiking on Sunday and working in the yard instead. It really needs the attention, and since I somehow don’t have a staff, I need to just keep at it. Sunday is the perfect day to do it. As I make headway, I noticed I don’t feel so down about it all.
I’ve got a Dogfish Summer Sour in the fridge waiting for me! Then maybe some old episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show!
I suspect the gardening yesterday (well actually weeding … ground was wet, easy for pulling out weeds) was good exercise. Certainly I “feel” it today in my leg muscles. If not, at least I still have the benefit of fewer weeds.
I worked most of the day and failed to eat anything while there. Came home and walked 4+ miles, then had dinner and wine.
Sunday’s workout at the track consisted of 50 burpees, 1 mile run, 75 heavy alternating DB snatches, 1 mile run, 100m of lunges and finished with a 1 mile run. Time: 54:07.
Today, I’m really beat and I’m taking the day off.
Got serious about low HR training this morning to try to get some energy back after all the miles. Did pretty well and was right where I wanted to be and felt a lot better. 4.5 miles this morning and 1.1 at the end of the workday. We’re having really nice weather- cooler and dry. Feels like Colorado!
I caved today. We have another week of rain. I ran yesterday in the rain and then started P90X Chest and Back. My pull-ups were very disappointing. My push-ups were strong. I could do real “heart to heart” (touch chest to hands) diamond push-ups for the first time and I could do 15. yay. I wish I had bigger boobs. That would help.
Shorter arms would be good too.
But my legs feel terrible. They need a break from running and I’m tired of just slogging super slow every day. I’m still wary of the gym… But I can justify anything, right? I decided that going right at opening and just doing the stairmonster - at least I’ll be above everyone. And then I can go home and lift. So that’s what I did: walk/run for 25 minutes to the gym (in the rain again), 30 min hard stairmonster, run/walk home. And instead of Plyometrics (legs said NO!), I did a booty workout from 80 Day Obsession that works all of those weak glute muscles. Ouch. Finished with abs.
At its peak while I was there, I counted 15 patrons in the gym and 2 employees up front. I didn’t go into the locker room. I just went straight to the stairmonster, did my thing, wiped everything down, and ran back out the door.
Oh! Back to the gym! Big step!
You weren’t mobbed by gym peeps wanting to talk to you?
