Happy Birthday @Colorado_mom !
I know that everyone is different, but I started running as I was turning 59. I’m now 65 and still running.

Happy belated birthday @Colorado_mom, 60 is very young age in my book. This year I will turn 36 , I’m not going to run or swim 3.6 miles, but I can keep going to 3.6 months non stop swimming, maybe that’s an achievable goal.
Today I did a 45 minutes swim, but it’s hot, so I didn’t find the pool cool enough, not refreshing for me. So when I got back home, I took a cold shower instead. Maybe I should be doing that until I need warm water. It’s a good way to save a bit of energy.
I am headed home from “vacation” two days early as I got Covid and canceled all kinds of things. I got plenty of exercise before it hit, including 90 mins of pickleball with dh and my sons for the first time. So fun! Can’t wait to play it again.
Since then I have been a lump and eaten poorly but don’t care at all.
Oh no! I’m sorry. What a bummer! When I’m sick, I throw nutrition out the window. I eat what sounds good, otherwise I probably wouldn’t eat at all. When I had the flu, it was those cheap frozen burritos and ice cream sandwiches. Hadn’t had either in many MANY years, but god they sounded good at that moment. Take care!
Another odd run this morning. When I was getting ready to run from the gym, I got stopped by a policeman. Granted I was taking a long time standing in the parking lot. Trying to get my blasted phone going in my waistpack is never easy. Now with the humidity, I have to put it in a baggie to help keep the sweat out. Anyhow, he asked if I was OK. Uh yeah. Later, I started running on the trail and a CAR was coming toward me on the trail. I started to freak out and then I saw it was the police car! Umm… they aren’t supposed to drive on the trail. So, I let him pass and kept going. Later, I passed him again. This time I stopped and asked if there was something going on that I should know about. He said no, that he rides on it from time to time making sure nobody was back there. Uh ok. This is the first time in 25 years I’ve seen anyone driving on it, but I guess I appreciate someone is checking…
Anyhow, it wound up being a really good run! My fastest in a year. I’ve cut a lot of time off the route in the last few months - or rather I run 0.75+ miles further in the same amount of time. Progress! Then, I rode the stationary bike for 30 min, did abs and some stretching and came home.
You. Are. My. People. Yesterday I had a frozen Totino’s pizza and Ben and Jerry’s.
I hope you get better soon @Youdon_tsay. Eat whatever you feel like.
Hope you feel better soon @Youdon_tsay .
I had Covid a few months ago and only a few foods appealed to me- they were not “healthy” ones.
I did 45 minutes of swimming today. The weather has been hot, I haven’t been able to do any gardening work, so this is the minimum amount of exercise. I don’t really like August, when all of my garden work is coming to a haul, nothing to do.
It was amazing out there. Low 60s with a 59 degree dewpoint. This week will be a huge gift. THANK YOU GOD! or whomever else is responsible.
I ran my furthest in forever 12.5 miles and peppy too - well for the first 85-90 min. The rest was a bit ploddy. But still chuffed. Almost skipped the rest but finished the 15 min ab video and 30 min of cardio flow. And now I’m beat.
I got on the scale today after vacation eating and hardly any working out thanks to Covid. The exact same. Weird.
I’m still testing positive so trying to ease into working out. Finally closed my activity ring yesterday stationary cycling 50 calories at a time. Today, I’m doing 100 at a time.
I went swimming today, but lately I decide to garden late in the afternoon, I really need more exercises than just 30 minutes of swimming. For the first time my weight went down slightly
I thought I’d check-in today.
It’s been a de-load week for me, lighter loads, lighter intensity, but I’ve also been testing 1 rep maxes in all lifts to use for future programming. Yesterday and today I tested for PR’s in squat and clean, respectively.
And I’m pleased to report I PR’ed my squat by 3 more lbs and finally cleared a nice round number for my clean. I hadn’t PR’ed in my clean since I started Oly lifting around 2013. The “lunk alarm” would have blared loudly today for me. But thankfully, I was all alone in the gym. I did add a few more lbs and attempted two additional cleans, but failed.
Er, for the bench, snatch, jerk, OH press and deadlift, not so much, though I did get close-ish. I did PR my bench a few weeks ago.
Today’s WOD was a fun one for me. A 31-minute AMRAP of a 400m run, 8 weighted barbell thrusters (heavier than typical), 3 rope climbs and 11 box jumps. Just barely made 4 rounds.
The plan is a run along the beach esplanade tomorrow.
Thought I might get back to running today, but still warm even early morn… and wanting to give a sore foot more rest. I did hop on the bike for a ride to the local trail, took a lake loop. When I lament that the 6 miles is not much exercise (all flat, rarely even change gears), I remind myself that it is good for balance. And good for attitude - the moutain views were lovely, and I get a kick out of all the folks on the shore and out on paddleboards, kayaks etc.
I had 45 minutes of swimming today. But I hate this heat, I can’t do anything outside until after 5pm.
50 miles outdoor biking today.
I did 45 minutes of swimming today. But this evening I need to go out work in the garden. So more exercises today. My husband said my neighbor was wondering what happened to me since they haven’t seen me outside in the garden, very unusual. My husband had to say she’s not sick, just inside planning some vacation trips, lol.
90 minutes of pickup last night. Played 6v6 which meant a ton of running
Our weather this week has been amazing. But I haven’t felt as amazing. I think the ragweed has started to come in. Usually it’s around the third week of august. But I won’t complain but so much. I did realize that I’m pushing 45 miles a week of running now, plus the two hours (total) or stairmonstering/stationary biking. I’m thankful to be back to that level.
This week also started phase 3. It’s the most intense in a sneaky way, so that may also be contributing. Today was legs. I think tomorrow is total body core.
It also has been a nice week. Younger S finished his internship and came home Saturday. He leaves tomorrow for his final year. He was offered a full time job with a much higher salary than I ever expected (higher than mine lol!), so we have lots to celebrate.
Still on our bike trip. We have been very lucky with rain. It’s rained, and even hailed, but not while we were riding. Today was 31.5 miles, plus a couple of miles walking.
