Fitting in as a Spring Transfer

NYU's my first choice. I'm applying as a Spring Transfer and I'm from Kuwait. Generally, I've never found it hard to get along with Americans or whatever. I'm pretty sure I'm really not that different. Well, not with the general NYU crowd, I think. I'm not conservative or religious at all and I'm pretty open-minded.

But because I've heard that NYU's a bit clique-y and it's hard to make friends even as a fall transfer, I'm worried that it'll be super hard to really get to know people and be comfortable there as a spring transfer and with the whole international thing.

What do you guys think? (Be honest!)

uhh, i don't think that it'll be really that hard to make friends; just join some clubs or something

Is that all it would take?

Also, I'm kinda scared my roomates might hold a grudge against me for invading their dorm room. I know, weird, but yeah. I don't know how a transfer in the middle of the year gets put in a dorm.

Most of the people I've met thus far are very open-minded. Me and my roommates (I'm in a triple) keep our door open and we have a lot of people who just float in to say hi. I'm a freshman so your situation will probably be different, but I think that the people (including the upperclassmen I've met) are genuinely friendly. The only problem I see is that you'd get shafted by choice of beds/desks, etc.

(Also, there are plenty of programs for transfer to attend to make friends.)

The worst bed is fine by me, as long as I don't get ignored by everyone.

Housing will be your biggest problem. It's at capacity now with hundreds on the housing waiting list. If I were you, I'd count on finding your own place.

Finding my own place in NYC?!
My parents won't pay for that. meh.
