Fitting in at UCSB as an out of state student

I know ucsb is 95% in state roughly and I'm just wondering how hard it is to get accustomed to the whole culture. Do most student already come with a set group of friends from high school? Do most people know each other? Basically as an OOS student who knows 0 people, will I have a hard time meeting new people? Thanks guys!

Even though some kids may know each other, chances are very slim that they will isolate only with each other. Many people want to start fresh in college amd it doesn’t matter if you’re instate or OOS. Most, if not everyone, will be welcome.

Most people either won’t know anyone or will know one or two people by sight they weren’t close to in high school. A few might go with a friend, but honestly, people scatter for college. Santa Barbara is a friendly place; expect to enjoy yourself!

Someone posted on here that as an introvert, all he had to do was leave his dorm room open and people would come in and introduce themselves… you could try that…
