Fitting in in the South

I'm a high schooler in a small town in the midwest, and I'm just curious to what college life in the south would be like. I'm especially interested in U of Alabama and Ole Miss. I don't think I am much different than anyone (conservative, preppy, whatever stereotype you want to say every Southerner is...), but would I be discriminated against because I'm from the North? I'm also very interested in joining Greek life, but would there be discrimination because I'm not from wealth or the south?

at Alabama, so many students aren’t from the South (and many instate students are really from elsewhere or their parents are) so there is no fear of any discrimination.

Most people in the bama greek system are not “from wealth’” however, joining at nearly any school can be expensive (dues, etc) so do you know how you would pay?
