So I’m finishing my Common App for Stanford and I 'm wondering, do they really pay attention to the “Five words to describe you” section? Because at this point, my list looks something like this:
Focused
Introspective
Curious
Sincere
Pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism ( just filler, can’t think of anything else to put)
I’m guessing they do, since they wouldn’t put it there otherwise. That said, I wouldn’t stress too much over it—just figure out something better (more sincere, since that’s #4!) for #5.
maybe put nouns? like… “caterpillar loving conversationalist”
(I actually don’t know if this is a good idea or not, but I think it’s funny sorry if I’m not helpful at all haha)
Why not ask you friends and family for some descriptors? Pick some fun ones - some quirky descriptors. This is also a chance to show off a sense of humor and that you don’t take yourself too seriously. It’s not about what admissions ‘likes to see.’ It’s about how you like to present yourself to strangers when you are trying to put the best foot forward.
