Fixing a TI calculator

Anyone know where/how to fix a TI-84 silver that I have? I don't think my warranty covers it, and I don't really want to send it back to the company and pay a ****load of money to have it fixed.

What's wrong with my calculator is that a little bit of food juice got in somewhere, and exact 4 keys don't work: delete, mode, X (variable), and STATS. Yea, that X button is pretty important... Having that key broken defeats the purpose of having a graphing calculator.

Anyways. If it still costs a ****load (i.e. $40+), I might as well just buy a TI-89.

I too have a problem with my TI calculator, though it is quite a different problem.

I had used my TI-83 Plus for a couple of years before one day it displayed an error message, "Please download calculator software now." and no longer responded to any stimuli or keystrokes. It was really weird because I never dropped or abused my calculator like everyone else, and it stopped working for no reason.

Now since I'll be needing to use it at school, I tried to fix it by connecting it to the computer with a 'TI Connectivity Kit USB' to the TI website where I can download calculator software and other things, but the TI Connect program wasn't able to make a connection with the calculator. I am mad for I spent $25 on the calculator USB and it doesn't work! Could somebody help me?

Office Depot online has the TI-83+ for $45 and the TI-84+ for $65 after coupon until the end of September.

Woah, TI-83+ for $45? When I bought mine in 2001, $83 was THE lowest. (It was at Office Max).

If you haven't left for school yet and you know a friend or former math teacher who has fixed calcs in the past, see if they can fix it for you.

I know, I know, I got the TI-83 for my brother for $35. But I'm rather attached to my current TI-84 silver, and will only trade it for a TI-89.

Does anyone know how to download calculator software from the Internet using the TI Connect program?

I downloaded the TI-83+ and TI-89 ROM for my computer so now I don't need to buy the calculators but I found out that my Calculus class doesn't require these anyway and I don't plan to major in egineering or anything that might require that calculor, myabe physics though.
