I tried making a post to compare JHU vs Swarthmore and Berkeley but it’s been flagged for moderation (yesterday night) and now I can’t find it anywhere. Will the post ever get approved or did I lose it? I didn’t save a draft of it and spent a decent amount of time writing it up so any help finding it is appreciated
If you do not have a draft saved, then it is gone forever. 99%+ of posts that are flagged for moderation are rejected, and once they are gone, they’re gone.
As mentioned many sites on this subforum, the most frequent reasons for a post being flagged are the post has a link which is not allowed or it contains a word (usually profanity) which is not allowed.

It would be better if the message said:
“Your post contains disallowed URLs or words (usually profanity). Edit your message to remove the disallowed URLs or words to post it. If you do not post or save a draft, it will be lost.”
@skieurope trying to figure out what I could have possibly posted wrong since I was flagged and had reviewed my post several times before posting and I saw no problems (no URLS no profanity). my comment posted the first time no problem. I edited to add “avoid if possible” and immediately flagged. I didn’t save it and since its was lengthy am loath to rewrite it if I don’t know the issue that flagged it. wish that flagging was specified what was wrong or auto messaged you the flagged post for issue. was it that I said avoid loans if possible? (too controversial?)
Are you sure you didn’t have an autocorrected typo that looked like profanity? Not that I would ever admit that had ever happened to me anywhere before…
“Controversial” wouldn’t be a reason for the automatic filter to put it in the moderation queue.
@whythefox “avoid if possible” would not trigger the filter. As mentioned before, once a post is gone, I have no visibility to it, so I can only speculate. Other than profanity/link issues, the other popular (albeit far less common) reasons are
• a typo that results in profanity, e.g. meant to type “shut”
• an acronym that contains a profanity when spelled out.
• listing a prohibited website by name with the (dot)com suffix.
@skieurope thanks. still don’t know what could have gone/been wrong but oh well. this site is more of a stopover until I found more info so the odd monitoring is not a huge issue
It just recently happen to me also. I posted a link to linkedin in one post. It was flagged. I then reposted something else without a link in the same thread, and it was flagged again, so I gave up.
