Flagler College, What are my chances.

I'm thinking about applying Early Decision for Flagler College next school year.
SAT Reading: 560 Math: 420 and Writing: 480, so 1460
ACT Composite: 21
I have a 3.69 unweighted and 4.1 weighted GPA, 100+ volunteer hours, and i'm in Art honor society. I take honors and AP classes. What are my chances? Can someone please tell me?

You’ll def get in. I had worse overall test scores then you (higher math and writing though). I also had a 3.4 weighted GPA and got in regular decision. I took AP and honors classes too. Good Luck! I don’t really suggest applying ED anywhere (I’m more of a fan of EA), but I think you’d get in RD too.

Thanks, I’m not sure about appying early yet.

I think you’ have a pretty good shot. Your GPA, course load, & community work are strong. I would still recommend retaking the SATs to shoot for at least a 500 on math, especially of you choose RD. I’m a jr there now so let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks, I’m retaking the SAT soon. I have visited Flagler before and was shocked by the beauty. How would you sum up your expierence so far?

Really wonderful, honestly.

  • great weather.
  • small classes, warm/helpful faculty
  • most faculty have terminal degrees, very experienced in their field
  • heavy student involvement in clubs, SGA, charity, etc
  • ample activities on & off campus, good but not distracting nightlife (for 18s & 21s; also, Jacksonville, Savannah, Daytona, & Orlando are all fairly close driving distances)
  • friendly, not hyper-competitive students
  • GREAT job market (don’t underestimate this in your search!) due to constant tourism
  • campus is always growing & expanding, 2 building are in construction currently & one is in the works
  • car is not necessary, bikes are preferred
  • no dominant political sway
  • flexible curriculum & major schedule
That’s all I can think of right.now (currently studying for finals!) but please let me know of you want more specifics!

So there is no political sway, I have heard the town is conservative?
Also do you know anything about the vegetarian/vegan options at the dining hall?
And is it true that girl and guys cannot go into each others dorms, its not a big deal to me but it does seem victorian.

Yeh the town is a bit conservative but downtown (where the college is) it’s not too apparent. That’s just the way north Florida is though.
I’m a vegetarian & I didn’t really have an issue in the dining hall with options. There’s a vegetarian station, a salad bar, a dessert bar, sandwich station, bagels/toast, hot food section, pizza & pasta, omlettes & a hibachi station every day. Dining hall waffles are the BEST. Vegan would be a bit harder though.
& yeh it’s a weird outdated rule. I don’t think the administration really agrees with it anymore & I would expect it to be revised in the next few years.

I am going to flagler this coming fall and I had the same test scores as you but my gpa is a 3.3. You will most likely get in

I hope you enjoy it. Are they big on financial aid?

My aid has been fantastic, but I also come from a low income home.

I also come from a low income home and get benefits from my school.

Do you know if Flagler prefers dual enrollment over AP classes? Also whats your major? I’m hoping to major in History and international relations.

I could ask around, but I would say that there’s no preference from an admissions perspective. However, there may be differences between the two in terms of credit acceptance once actually enrolled.

I’m a psychology major & art history minor. History is a strong, established major, & there are a lot of faculty-led study abroad, research assistantships & obviously the town is saturated in history. I personally work giving historic tours, which is a cool part time job that looks pretty good on a CV. International Relations is an expanding dept, so that would be exciting!

My new SAT scores are R. 590 M. 470 W.510
They improved a bit, I was hoping to do better for scholarships.
