I’m currently a working professional in the field of rail transportation and logistics.
Going to a CC now and debating going to the University of Florida online for a BSBA with general business major or going to the University of North Florida for a BBA with a major in logistics
Am I better off going to UF because of the bigger name, ranking, etc? Or should I go to UNF for the specialized program?
I’d say UF if you can afford it. It’s hard to give up the flagship of your state. That doesn’t mean UNF is a bad school, it’s just that UF would have more opportunities as far as career options go. If we were talking about USF vs UNF then I’d say pick whichever you like best, but UF just has a ton more opportunity if you get accepted.
Go with UF online, it’s more convenient, cheaper (I would guess at least 25% cheaper), appears as a normal UF degree (it’s doesn’t say “online”), it’s a nationally ranked business school, and it will better prep you for an MBA, if that’s the direction you want to go in the future.
Is Logistics what you really need? Do you plan to stay with your current employer, and if so does your degree program matter to that employer?
Online programs require a lot of discipline and you may miss the interactivity of in-person classes. I would see how you do in an online class first. If it works for you, then attend the UF program. Will your employer reimburse any of your tuition?
If you want a specialized logistics program, go with the specialized logistics program.
What you learn and know would matter more.
