I registered for the latest move in time (3:30ish) because I would be flying over and wanted to account for any sort of unexpected delays and whatnot. However, if all goes well Ill probably arrive at Northwestern a few hours ahead of my scheduled move in time.

Since I'll only have a few bags and won't need a parking space or anything, would they allow me to move in earlier than scheduled time or would I have to sit on the curb for a few hours?

I haven’t lived in a dorm in a few years, but it shouldn’t be an issue. Honestly, campus will be such a zoo on Tuesday, that dorm staff doesn’t have time to be anal. The cops might be a bit more difficult in terms of parking (NUPD never feels more important than on move-in day), but your CA would be making a horrible 1st impression if he/she makes you sit outside for a few hours for no real reason.

The different move-in times are more of suggestions and attempts to limit human traffic than they are any sort of actual system.

I was under the impression that the move in times were done strictly for parking space. My D is doing pwild and we plan on walking her stuff to the dorms that she brought at 9am when we pick her up, than come back at noon - her scheduled parking time - to move the rest of her stuff in.

Ah thanks for your reply! I hope things will work out that way.

At the very least you should be able to get your stuff into the dorm, even if you can’t actually pick up your key until your allotted time for whatever reason. Generally, on move in day, all the doors are unlocked and open.
