Curious of CCers' opinions on this.
As posed on This American Life, which superpower would you rather have: flight or invisibility?

invisibility

I read somewhere that if you were invisible you wouldn’t be able to see because light wouldn’t be able to reflect off your invisible corneas. So I guess flight, but I feel like people would get weirded out if they saw me flying around. I don’t know.

I’ve always said invisibility, but after learning how much I hate driving and after moving very far away from my long time friends, I might have to say flight, depending on how fast I could fly.

I often dream that I can fly, but I don’t think I ever dream that I’m invisible.

Some guidelines:
Flight: You can fly at 500mph inside our atmosphere.
No you wouldn’t get cold.
You can carry anything you can carry now.

Invisibility: Nobody can see you (duh). You can see things.
Anything you are wearing or holding will turn invisible with you, but anything you pick up after that will appear to be floating.
You still make noise.

would you be blind though

…no. You would not be blind.

Isn’t 500mph less than the speed of an average passenger airplane (I think it’s 600mph)? That’s disappointing because then it would me to the full six-ish hours to fly from the east coast to the west coast (in the US).

How much energy does it take to fly and how much energy does it take to stay invisible. That matters a lot.

I guess at 500 mph you’d be moving so fast people wouldn’t know its you and thus you could steal stuff.

Yeah. Does flying burn calories? Is it hard work?

you could steal stuff if people thought you were invisible…they’d just think there’s a ghost.

if flying burns calories then i change my answer

Neither of them take energy or burn calories.

Then probably flying. I like the idea of being able to get away when needed. Also, no more bus or gas money.

you could get on the bus if you were invisible

Invisibility. Definitely.

Yeah, but it would still take much longer than simply flying. The real joy would be being able to go wherever I want in my area almost instantly.

I think I would have to go for invisibility. I’d be such a whistle blower.

Flight. I desperately need a car.

Flight. I’m pretty much already invisible

invisibility.
