All those glass fish look like one my mom brought us from a cruise. The white fruit bowl is probably the one on the corner shelf in the dining room. If you google image search “white milk glass fruit bowl” you can see what Mom2M is talking about.

A quick way to try to identify items is to take a picture and then do an image search on Google. I know nothing about collectibles but was able to get a lot of information about china from my MIL’s house (she passed away recently and I was helping DH and SIL figure out potential value). Be sure to check the marks on the bottom of stuff. Mostly that it wasn’t worth much, but it was still very interesting to learn about where they were probably bought, for example my FIL apparently brought back some china from Germany immediately after WW2.

No work on Hoarder House today because… Surf’s Up!! One drawback about having a crew of young guys. A big swell came in and they begged to not work so they could get out surfing.

Hopefully the dumpster company will come get the full dumpster and leave us a new one without me having to stand out on the sidewalk all day waiting for them (definitely not going to sit inside that house on a little folding chair waiting). I’m just going to cross my fingers that it happens because I am running around buying a bunch of loose ends needed to finish the remodel project. Glass panels for bathtub and shower are getting installed today. We haven’t been able to get the toilets installed because the bathrooms are so tight I wanted to wait until after the glass panels got installed.

Good luck on the dumpster pick up, Coralbrook. I hate waiting for things like that, but sometimes it just has to be done. I hope the remodel finishes up smoothly!

coralbrook - looks like you are finding some interesting stuff. My H knows a bit about stereo equipment. I didn’t remember the location of this house. Is it the Mt Helix one? Yup - surf is up here in San Diego. Both D’s are headed to the beach this afternoon!

REMODEL PROJECT UPDATE
Back to the remodel project which I am desperately trying to get done for my own sanity, for the owner who gave notice on her apartment and needs to move in AND because I don’t get my final payment until I can prove that everything in Scope of Work is done. I NEED that final payment to help pay month end bills and get some cash to pay the crew!!! We are shooting for end of day Saturday. I am so grateful that I got smart about final cleaning. I made it very clear in my Scope of Work and numerous discussions that we would not be doing the final construction cleaning - she needed to hire some cleaners. They are coming on Tuesday after Labor Day so obviously we better not be walking around on the floors after that

Owner wanted stationary glass panels in the bathtub and shower. It looks gorgeous in the Master Shower, BUT I kept trying to explain to her that it just didn’t make sense on the bathtub. She has kids… so she has to crawl into bathtub and turn on the water and leap around until it warms up?? Then her kids get in there and push and shove and get water all over the place and keep bumping the glass. What if she needs to wash the little one?? She has limited herself to a small area to reach into tub. Not to mention how hard it is going to be to keep the glass clean AND how do you reach in there and clean the bathtub?? Oh well, not my house

Finally, did I mention that these jobs are so NOT glamorous that it is verging on embarrassing. Today we needed to load up a bunch of trash to go to the dump. Of course, I have a brilliant idea that I’ll just take this trash down to the dumpster at the other project. So, off I go down the freeway looking like Sanford and Son. We even put trash panels up the sides of the truck to get even more trash into the pickup bed. Arrive and the Dumpster Company has not switched out dumpsters - dumpster is still full from Day 1 trash at the Hoarder House.

Dinner at neighborhood friend’s house tonight and I had to pull up as Sanford and Son, everyone is looking out window at my arrival!! Not to mention I am covered in dust and have been sweating all day trying to clean out some stuff. Just cannot figure out why I can’t look like that young blonde girl on Flip or Flop??? Well, maybe because she is 35 years younger than me…

Serious question about glass around a tub: What’s the best way to do it?? We will be redoing our bathroom with the only tub in the house soon-ish, and I don’t know what to do around the tub. I don’t want a shower curtain and I don’t want the tracks that sit on the tub itself so the glass can slide. The tracks hurt when you lean over them to wash a kid.

Special request: Will you take an “after” picture of the kitchen counter extension if the contractor has been back? I’m very curious as to if he was able to improve the aesthetic. Please and thank you!

I think the flooring looks really good on the stairs.

Well, now that you remind me… that dang countertop guy did not come back last Friday like he promised. I need to get him back by end of day Friday! Yikes!!! details details

@michiganGeorgia: I like that very much. I have to go stand in my bathroom and consider it. I have to figure our how deep it would open into the bathroom itself. Would there be any danger if the hinged door is open and someone bangs into it?

Suggestions for bathtub closure… while researching glass panels for the bathtub we saw many configurations. I think there are two solutions that might be better than the stationary panel that the Owner put into this bathtub. There are ‘pivot’ doors that can be mounted on bathtub. They would still be the half panel with an open area or you can get a full panel of glass with a pivot door. However the glass company was adamant about not drilling holes into the bathtub for mounting anything. No matter how well the screws are sealed, water might start leaking down those holes to the subfloor under bathtub.

Also, the glass company recommended the solid half panel, but with a cut out opening so you can reach your hand in to turn on the water valve. I’m not sure this is a good solution because splashing water would somehow make it out that opening !

There are also ‘frameless’ sliding door configurations now that have a very clean look. But I think those still need a little bit of a channel to slide the doors.

I think my biggest problem with all of these glass panels is that you would have to get into bathtub to do a thorough cleaning and get into the bathtub to clean the inside of the glass???

I don’t have any personal experience because my D is grown up and our bathtub in the back bathroom never gets used. We have a shower curtain.

We are down to the wire and the floor tile for Master Bath hasn’t shown up yet. I had to order it and have it shipped and now it is going to hold everything up. UPS website says ‘out for delivery’ but I sat there until 5:30pm and it didn’t show up. Crossing my fingers it will be outside the door tomorrow morning so we can get started on that last final task.

Baseboards getting installed downstairs, lots of touchup paint, built out the banquette for the dining table and the lighting is going up tomorrow. Loaded up some photos to the CC Remodel Project showing the cabinets as they are getting their handles.

Wow we are finding a lot of stuff. I found another whole set of personal papers and photos. I had to meet the Fiduciary Agent today to pick up the title and paperwork for the car and so I brought some more things for Walter.

I have some photos loaded, check out the kitchen sink and stove area! Not keeping that sink no matter how much someone laments that it is an antique!!

I was very tired last night so didn’t get descriptions onto photos. My computer will not turn on this morning, completely broken which means I have a huge disaster on my hands. Desperate for final payment on remodel and my spreadsheet is stuck in that computer. Luckily I backed up to external hard drive last week but I would have to recreate everything and have no way to print. Have never had this happen before so I’m lost on who to call or what to do.

Well, somehow that crisis was averted!!! I pulled the plug and let computer run out of battery. Now it turned on. I was able to go into Flickr and update descriptions on the photos.

We are staging everything for Estate Sale and you can see some of the things that we have gathered into the garage. Read descriptions on photos. More to come

Tile has arrived according to UPS at 7:50pm last night!! Hopefully it will still be sitting there at front door when crew arrives. I get to run around and buy toilets and get them loaded and over to the project for installation today. Meanwhile tile guy just texted me that he cannot come today. I give up, I am going to have to get on my hands and knees and help my lead install an intricate floor pattern that I designed.

CB, somewhere in an earlier post, IIRC, you mentioned that the previous owner of the house willed the house to Walter. Are the items in the house Walter’s, or the other guy’s?
