no one cares.

I'm asking for help.

You're not helping, so why post?

It's fricken annoying. Go away.

For swimming...?

Just... do it. It's only a flip turn.

Yeah, I know. lol I used to be able to do one so easily, and now I can't.

I can flip, but I can't do it straight. I don't know why.

Just practice an don't be scared about hitting the wall or whatever.

I went to the state park today and went swimming. I haven't been swimming a lot lately. I forgot how much I like swimming. I might not like the swim team, but I like swimming in general.

um, flip, and turn

try to get your speed up before hitting the wall, and your head goes straight to the bottom with your feet coming over in as small of a ball as possible.

I've pretty much just realized how much I miss swimming too. I quit the swim team a year ago and I hadn't been in the water until last week.

No offense, but how do you forget how to do a flip turn?

If you're a novice swimmer who learned the flip turn recently, then I understand.

If you're a senior/elite swimmer who does 300 (literally) flip turns each practice, then forgetting how to do your flip turn is like forgetting how to walk.

Adding 4 seconds to your time? How long is the event?

I'm not a novice swimmer, and I'm not an "elite" swimmer either. To tell you the truth, I've always had trouble with flip turns. I don't know why. lol. I've always been able to do them, though. I would have to practice really hard though, like just go in the middle of the pool and try to flip. I did that yesterday for about 20 minutes and I did it, but they were crooked.

Oh well. I'm sure I'll be able to do it when the season starts up again.

Don't let your head or arm lead alone. Use both. On your last stroke going into the wall use your arm and flip your whole body as you stroke. Don't flutter kick first, use a dolphin kick because it will allow your body to gain balance in the water.

one thing I had trouble with when I was learning was what to do with your arms... don't spin them in circles on your side even if it feels natural... they should do more of a sweeping motion upwards. a good practice for this is standing in the water with your elbows at your sides and without moving your upper arm splash the water up towards your face.

o do you swim for a team? I do it was kind of mandatory for us to learn one, i've been swimming since I was like 5

The secret to a fast flip turn is to use your arms as you go into the turn.

As you get your both arms to your sides and you're going into the wall head first, use your arms that are at your sides- in a bicep curl motion with your palms open, towards your face. This provides lift for you to get your legs over, and you're in a nice close to streamline position when you've flipped. And get your head down quick.

If you still have a problem, you may need to work on your abs.

For people who swim, or used to swim, forgetting how to flip is really kinda like forgetting how to walk :) Anyway, I hope this helps

I KNOW! I can't believe I can't do it! I can easily do it at the pool at the YMCA, and the one at my school, and at a high school where my club is. MAye it's because I'm in a different environment and the pool is smaller ?

Oh well... at least my speed is pretty good.
