Anyone apply EA to FLL?

I did! For French. I don't think that many people on CC did, though. You applied for Spanish, right?

yup. i talked to one other girl who applied for Spanish. I guess its a good thing that not too many people applied to FLL!

Wut is FLL? foreign language ....? literacy? linguist? sry, i am a n00b

its cool. FLL is the faculty of languages and linguistics. its part of the College.

I see. Good luck with that! I mean... Buena suerte!

Bonne chance! LOL I'm such a nerd.

You would have been a nerd if you said, "Oodgay ucklay!"

Hey, I applied to the FLL for Spanish too. I'm guessing I'm the "other girl". Do you think we have a better chance of getting in since a lot less people apply?

what has made you pursue Spanish?

Yes, I do think that we have a marginally better chance of getting in, however only if you are very strong in your prospective language (because I think that if you are very strong in the language, that could make up for other shortcomings).

I just think that less people apply to FLL so they are looking for people who are very interested and a strong language background...therefore i guess you could say it is less competetive. but we'll just have to see on Dec. 13th...hey and question i was reading ont he old posts...can you call to find out your admissions decision?

Yeah- I think you can call on December 17th if you haven't received a letter (or at least it was the 17th last year).

gotcha. any other FLLers? got 3 so far.

I'm majoring in Spanish, but I'm also pre-med. Med schools recommend that you major in something that you are interested in, and it gives you a more diverse/well rounded application. So besides medical stuff, Spanish is my favorite subject. Plus, as a doctor, it doesn't hurt to be fluent in Spanish, especially in my area.

Does anyone know any actual acceptance statistics for the FLL as opposed to the overall college or the SFS?

And for finding out, we get a letter sometime between the 13th and 15th, but if you havent heard by the 15th, I'm pretty sure that you can call up the admissions office and they will tell you.

Hey FLLers...I found this link on the college website. Its the FLL newsletter. Has some interesting stuff from teh new Convenor Dr. Morales-Front about admissions to FLL. Here it is if anyone is interested:
