Floormate problem..

Okay, so I have this irritating problem with three girls that live on my floor. These three girls are the ones I usually spend time with, HOWEVER, they cross some boundaries, I think.

When I am in my room working on homework or napping, I close the door. The problem is that they always knock on my door really loudly until I answer it. No joke, they will stand outside my door and knock for 5 straight minutes, or yell my name. If I don't answer right away, they will just open up the door and walk right in, which I think is really rude. So lately I have been locking the door because I am sick of them just walking in here whether I answer the door or not. If it's locked, they still try to open the door themselves and knock continuously. I just don't know what to do because I do like hanging out with them sometimes, but they need to understand that sometimes I am busy or sleeping or whatever so they can't just walk on in here.

I need some advice on what to do about this!

Find somewhere else to nap and/or start doing your schoolwork in the library or somewhere else.

Put a note on your door saying you’re busy.

Why don’t you just talk to them? Why is everyone so afraid to talk things out?

Tell them that they shouldn’t incessantly knock. Or crack the door, say, “I’m napping,” then shut and lock the door.

Grow a spine and let me know you’re busy.

Agree that a simple conversation and “do not disturb” note on your door should be sufficient. Do they do this to each other as well? Am assuming you don’t do this to them.

Put a “studying - do not disturb” sign on door, and if they keep knocking, lock the door and don’t answer until they go away. Wear headphones and listen to music to drown out their knocking. Or just yell “go away” if they start knocking. Don’t worry about seeming “mean” or “rude”, once you become a senior you’ll have the “leave me alone I have a paper to write” terminology down to a science.
