There has been a lot of talk about Florida lately but I have not seen any comments on FGCU in Ft. Myers. My daughter loved the atmosphere and housing but I can't find much to convince me that it's a good school. It does seem like she would be in the small minority of OOS kids.

I live near FGCU, a lot of smart kids from my school go to FGCU. The campus really is beautiful. It might not be the best school academically, but it is a growing school, so new opportunities are always coming up. It definitely on my list of colleges to look at. Also, the surrounding area as a whole is pretty safe, and has a pretty low crime rate, if that's an issue.

I might be a complete idiot, but what does OOS mean?

oos = out of state

Thanks katey90. Do your friends who attend FGCU live there or does it seem like there is a lot of commuting? The housing is great but I don't want my daughter to be the only one there on weekends.

By the way, it took me a few days to figure out OOS and then I actually used it! I still don't know what UC means, as in "any of the UCs."

UC = university of california.

i feel important now

...as you should. Thanks!

A lot of students that go to FGCU commute, but some students live there too. I went to FGCU over their Spring Break, and there were still kids who were on campus then. I just looked it up on SparkCollege and approximently 32% of undergraduates live on campus.
