Does the MFOS cover book costs as well? I’m not sure how the scholarship gets disbursed regarding travel costs, computer costs, and book costs.
@jennyp8 My financial aid package was updated now!
Liz congratulation on your scholarship but you still seem to be stressed . you will soon get an updated package having the coa covered by grants and scholarship. loans and work study wont be a part of your package.
I faxed mine.
Err I’m still waiting on mine I’m afraid I won’t get it because I’m so close to that $40,000 mark for total family income! Anyone else really close to that # get theirs yet or are you guys lower?
Aj I just got mine this morning. Yesterday I was notified to sign the certification, but this morning I actually received the link to fill out the forms. I was also really close to the $40,000. My family income was more than $35,000. Good luck and hopefully you get it.
Ok, this gives me hope @JoeyS23, I wonder how they decide who to notify in what order? It seems to be pretty random at this point, but thank you Will update soon.
@ajj116 I was thinking the same thing! I wonder how they choose the scholars as well. There so little that they ask on the form, that it’s tough to make decision. Don’t worry! I was super nervous too.
I have a question, when you guys go on your financial aid, did you grant them permission to this?
"Federal regulations require the university to obtain your permission to use your Federal Title IV financial aid (grants and loans) to pay charges other than tuition, on-campus housing, and books that appear on your account. These charges may include meal plans, laser prints, health care services, and parking decals or tickets.
When your financial aid is disbursed, it will be applied to these charges. Your permission will expedite payment of these charges and disbursement of your aid.
To grant permission to have your financial aid pay all UF charges, please select the “Student Permission” button below. To skip this permission step select “Continue” below."
I’m not sure what this means
Also, you guys already indicated that you did not want to be considered for Federal Direct Student Loans, right?
Liz I think the permission question is something mandatory and they will make you sign it in preview.
For those who had already sent thier certifications, do you still see a notification saying you must complete and return the 2015-16 Machen…?
@BellDong when did you fax it in? They might take a couple of days to update ISIS, especially if it was a Thursday or Friday that you sent it on or something.
I sent mine on 22 and they recived and accepted the certification on the same day. But the notification which says you must Sing and return the 15_16 mfos certification is still there.
Mine was accepted on 24th
I still haven’t been notified and I’m freaking out! At this point I don’t even think I’ll be able to attend UF, if I don’t find out by May 1st I have no idea what I am going to do.
I’m still waiting notification of the scholarship. My household income is less than $25,000 a year. Mine was received 2/26 and accepted 3/10. I’m hoping that they notify more students by May 1st
@BellDong they received and accepted my certification and it says that I don’t have any missing documents but it still says “You must complete the certification…” too. I wonder if it’s a glitch or if they just forgot to remove it once they updated Isis.
@Malik5661 My financial advisor told me that it might be possible that you could be notified after May 1st.
I really want to know how they choose the scholars and how they decide in what order to notify them. Because it’s obviously not first come first serve I’m wondering if they also take academics into consideration?
I dont think if they consider acadamics. Acadamic performance is not mentioned at all in the Mfos website.
I just wished they notified everyone at the same time rather than making some of us play the excruciating waiting game
Yep, still nothing for me… My optimism is gone. Oh well
Talked to financial adviser a couple days back and she said that they were still trying to decide who would receive the last 40 scholarships.
