Florida Prepaid vs. BF

I am in the position where I will be receiving 100% bright futures, as well as the benefits of the Florida Prepaid tuition program.

Considering that the majority of you are probably in the same situation and many have already begun handling it, what is the best route to take? Did you use your BF money to pay tuition and just withdraw the money that you have in Prepaid in order to pay for things such as housing or maybe invest it?

For tax reasons they MUST pay your tuition with Florida Prepaid.
UF then sends a check directly to you for your BF amount to do as you wish.

But then are you able to withdraw from your BF amount or how exactly does it work? I don't really understand

You dont need to do anything. UF will cut you a check from their BF account for the cost of the current semesters worth of tuition ($1,750? if you are full time). Once in the Fall & once in the Spring.
As long as the Pre Paid folks have made their payment to UF.

Also note that you can use your Pre Paid to pay for summer classes.
You pre purchased 120 credits from UF. They don't care when you use them.
BF does NOT cover summer classes.

My question is: is the check made out to UF or can I use the extra money for things other than tuition.. like housing?

You can have the left over Bright Futures money direct deposited into your checking or savings account and use it for anything you'd like.

Is that done at the beginning of the end of the term?

beginning of the semester.
Right AFTER Prepaid pays the tuition bill.

Thanks for your input and patience
