I'm having a heck of a time with claiming florida residency, on all of my status concerning residency it says: non florida resident (I have lived in florida all my LIFE!!) After getting a email from them about needing additional info me and my mom personally drove to Tampa to hand deliver the required stuff and the girl at the counter said that we were good to go, but no change in classification and its been a month. So I sent them the info again (paranoid that the girl lost the info) and no change, that was three weeks ago! Anyone having similar problem and/or have any answers? And will this create problems with my financial aid?

You need to phone USF and find out exactly what is going on. Not qualifying as a Fl resident will keep you from being eligible for some financial awards and grants, including Bright Futures. Did you set up your account with the Fl Dept. of Education for the Bright Futures?

jwilson…I had the same EXACT problem. I have lived in Florida ever since I moved to the United States(9 years ago). First time I applied to USF online, for some reason my residency status had a problem, so I was asked to fill-out a residency affidavit. To make a long story short, I basically filled out my residency affidavit in three different occasions, exactly how I was instructed by an undergraduate admissions counselor, and by an undergraduate financial advisor. I would always get a letter form USF 7 days later after I submitted my residency affidavit saying that my information was incomplete. So…like you did I went up there since I wanted to tour the campus on the first place, but I took the opportunity to turn all the documents they needed to make a copy off. Unlike you, my status actually changed within a day or two. After all the hassle, I am finally considered a Florida resident for state-tuition.
