I can’t really speak for the other schools, because I don’t know much about them, but I’m a political science major at UF and I love it.

I don’t know what qualifies as an “exciting city,” but I love Gainesville. It’s not a huge city, there aren’t skyscrapers and big buildings and things like that, but basically everything in the town caters to college students - there’s never a shortage of things to do. There’s a ton of nightlife, loads of cute cafes/shops/places to hang out, and a vibrant ‘downtown’ area to explore, all very close to campus.

And as far as PolySci/IR goes, it’s a pretty good school. Not a top program, but I don’t think any schools in Florida are known for theirs. Personally, I have loved every PolySci class I’ve taken. The professors are extremely knowledgeable and approachable, and there are a ton of courses to choose from. Although there is no IR major - which is what I wanted to major in - there’s a good selection of IR classes to choose from, and an IR Certificate is available if you meet a certain criteria.

^I second that. When I was considering FSU Honors, I met with a polisci professor. He was simply brilliant and accessible. I believe FSU Political Science program is ranked around 25 in USNWR while UF is in either the 30s or 40s.

There actually is a Florida school that is nationally renowned for political science, FSU. No other school in Florida could even compare. Plus, Tallahassee is MUCH more exciting than Gainesville. Even UF students would admit to that.
