Hi- When I applied to my dream school, Florida Southern College , in October, I was informed that I was accepted, invited to apply for the honors program, and qualified to apply for Prestige scholarships-- which offer up to a full ride. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these two things and/or how competitive they are? I’m in the process of writing the essay for both, and will have the scholarship application submitted by the end of the week, and the Honors program one likely done in January.
Just FYI, I’m a white female from a fairly competitive public school in northern NJ. My gpa is about a 91 or 92, and my ACT score was a 29.
Any advice would be helpful-- Thanks

Hi there. I was wondering if you have heard anything back about your scholarship opportunity. Good luck!
My son is currently in the Honors Program at Florida Southern. He is a sophomore. He didn’t need to write an additional essay for that opportunity. He was invited to apply and he did. He did have a 4.0 unweighted and was in the 95% in SAT scores. But perhaps the procedure has changed at this point. I do know that the scholarship names have changed since he was awarded his. His was called the Presidential Hollingsworth Scholarship and now it is called something else although is the same amount which is all we concerned ourselves with. He did interview for the full ride at that time called the McClurg, but he did not receive it. There were only 3 awarded that year. However he was awarded another very small scholarship after he interviewed. He likes the professors in the Honors Program and likes the school very much. He feels sufficiently challenged and works hard. We live almost 1000 miles away so although it was a tough adjustment, he says he is very happy with his choice of college. Good Luck to you!
I did, I didn’t qualify to interview for the full ride, but I did get a small additional scholarship, which when combined with my scholarship i already received, is a pretty large amount of money.
@2ndbase Thank you so much!
That is still a great scholarship for you to receive. Congratulations!
