Florida State & Graduate Schools

Hey guys I was recently accepted into FSU and I'm not sure if I will be going there or not.
Is Florida State looked down upon for graduate school and does the honors program there make any difference? If I get good grades (3.5+) Should I be able to go to a top school?

FSU is a national university and has an excellent reputation as such. If you do your part as a student you can go anywhere.

For example, consider this grad student: [FSU student has nation’s top dissertation in physics](http://www.gradschool.fsu.edu/News-Recognitions/In-the-News/Former-Student-Has-Nation-s-Top-Dissertation-in-Nuclear-Physics)

Do you really think this student will have trouble getting a post-doc slot?

Me neither.

Oh, yeah - here’s another example (almost irresistible :)) of where FSU grads can go. This is a good one to show to your competitors at HYPS:

[Buffett picks Floridian successor: Sarasota sage succeeds Omaha oracle?](http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/venturebiz/content/buffett-picks-floridian-successor-sarasota-sage-succeeds-omaha-oracle)

Welcome to the Tribe. ;)

^do have any examples of top physcians that have graduated from FSU. I’m always hearing of doctors from UF and I was wondering did you know of any examples?

FSU Med is only 10 years old, while UF Med is about 54 years old. It takes time.

However, FSU Med has already earned a visit from the CEO of the AAMC, which is notable:
[Kirch praises College of Medicine and urges it to help fix health-care system](http://med.fsu.edu/?fuseaction=newsPubs.readNewsPub&fromHome=1&id=459)

It supposedly took UF Med decades to have the CEO of the AAMC address the College.

But - here are some FSU Med students working towards being top docs:

Florida’s new med-school model](http://med.fsu.edu/uploads/files/newsPubs/print/SarasotacampusaprovinggroundforFloridasnewmedschoolmodel1.pdf)

The 2010 class of FSU Law has the highest LSAT average in Florida: http://www.law.fsu.edu/</a></p>

Another article on FSU grad Todd Combs: [Warren Buffett: Todd Combs Is ‘a 100% Fit’ With Berkshire Culture - WSJ.com](<a href=“Warren Buffett: Todd Combs Is 'a 100% Fit' With Berkshire Culture - WSJ”>Warren Buffett: Todd Combs Is 'a 100% Fit' With Berkshire Culture - WSJ)

Still apparently loves the 'Noles…

^ wow thank you very much for the plethora of information. I truly find it an inspiration to see students who aren’t just from “UF” work towards excelling at their choosen profression and get great recognition at that! again thank you very much, I found the info both inspiring and helpful.

Does anyone have any knowledge about FSU 's international relations/affairs. I know its in Tallahassee so there are great internship options
