Florida State graduates all of it's Students at a rate of 68.3%. It graduates African American students at a rate of 72%. Dispite this, they pout money into CARE, designed to increase black grad rates. i can't find the budget but it must be expensive considering :

Is this a responsible use of tax payer money considering black students already graduate at more than 3% higher than their FSU peers? You decide....

Why do you think black graduation rate is so high?

And also, it looks mighty good to say “oh, well we help graduate more black students than you do” to peer colleges like UCF (although I have absolutely no idea what UCF’s black graduation rate it). I can’t say whether it’ll actually help, but it’s more likely than not a publicity stunt.

Look at where ALL our taxpayer dollars go (e.g. the bridge to nowhere). You’ll be outraged.

No, I’m not concerned as a gator, just as a tax paying citizen of Florida. I would post this if it was at UF, USF or St. Pete Community college, doesn’t matter. I think the only way to hold public institutions accountable is by making their financial decisions pubic. Imagine if there was a “white fund” set up to graduate white students if they were already being graduated in higher numbers than the University itself. For what it is worth, if this was a private school using private money to do this, i would say BRAVO, it’s their money. FSU is, however, a public school and most of their money is from Tallahassee.

Oh god are we doing this again? Lets all get together and ***** about how this is reverse discrimination and how if it were for white people we’d all go haywire.

Ok. You’re right. What’s the point?

It’s not like the money is going to waste? What you should say is that there should be a program like this for all people, not just blacks and therefore it’s not tax money going to waste, if anything it’s – and I regret saying this – borderline … exclusive?
