Let me start out my story by when I visited UF, I thought it was really nice (I’m an out of state resident) and I’ve never been to FSU. BUT After I found out all the requirements to get into UF, I didn’t even think I could get in. Time came around and I got accepted into both UF and FSU. Something keeps drawing me into FSU. I still like UF but all these stories I hear about some of the students being sort of cocky and FSU being a decently welcoming school has me going back and forth. I’m pretty torn between them at the moment and I’ve talked to some of the incoming freshman going to FSU and they seem more social and outgoing from the students going to be Freshman at UF that I’ve also spoken to. Realistically which should I choose?
Its up to you decide which is best for you! Good Luck and Congratulations! <:-P
I know is already past decision date but you are right on about the UF kids being cockier than FSU. FSU is a party school but it’s also a very nice school. People there are nice & the campus is definitely a lot more beautiful in my opinion. It’s more of a traditional college looking school as opposed to UF which is very modern looking. FSU has a lot more of the college experience with the very traditional events & things like that. I visited both schools & I felt an extremely cold vibe from the people there & at FSU I feel right at home. They’re both great schools I won’t lie but my opinion is FSU. I’m starting there now in the summer. Let me know which one you finally chose.
In my opinion, Floridians have a somewhat overinflated sense of how prestigious UF is. There’s no doubt that it’s generally the higher-ranked school, but it’s not really seen as that big of a deal outside of Florida.
I’m sure whichever school the OP picked, will prove the right one. Congrats!
On the FSU vs UF kids. The students at both schools went to the same high schools (89%+ of the undergrads are in-state students at each school), have about the same grades, test scores and share the same group of friends. Having a bit higher GPA/Test score at UF really doesn’t make much of a difference in how the kids act and socialize.
